Syed Abid Ali (1941 – September 29, 2007) was a Pakistani cricketer who played in 29 Tests from 1967 to 1974. He was primarily a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a useful lower-order batsman.
Early Career: He made his first-class debut in 1958 and gained recognition for his consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Test Debut: Syed Abid Ali made his Test debut against England in 1967.
Key Performances: He is remembered for his all-round performance in the 1971 Oval Test against England, where he scored 33 in the first innings and then bowled exceptionally, taking 6 wickets for 67 runs. He also contributed with a valuable 20 runs in the second innings, helping Pakistan to a victory.
Later Career and Retirement: He continued to play for Pakistan until 1974. After retiring from international cricket, he remained involved in the sport.
Coaching and Administration: Following his playing career, he served as a coach and administrator within Pakistani cricket.
Death: He passed away on September 29, 2007.
